All of the research led me to realising that all of the topics had a common theme, fear, intimidation, control, being trapped. This concept was much better as it could encompass many different scenarios and not just human trafficking/modern slavery.
I then researched entrapment, in particular psychological entrapment.
‘The state that results from a person perceiving they are defeated, feeling that they want to escape, but sensing that their situation will continue indefinitely’
The aim of my final piece was to portray a feeling of being trapped.
Initial Idea: Samples of ideas and research results

I was aware that we had several weeks of printmaking during the FMP term. I was anxious with regard to my hand issues as the ‘scrim’ process in the previous sessions had caused problems. I needed to think of a way to avoid having to do the wiping process. This led me to wondering if textiles could be part of the process.
I did a few test monoprints onto material to assess if this was a feasible option for the final piece.

The end result was not what I wanted to achieve, I then decided to try and use material with stitching as the actual printing plate, and embarked on the idea of printing the spider’s webs.
It was a trial and error process that resulted in some spectacular prints.
