What have I learnt so far on this course. At the start of the course I knew very little about art in general, as with many people I based my knowledge on what I found aesthetically pleasing.
In the beginning I was insular, kept quiet, didn’t voice any opinions. I have learnt to share my experiences and ideas, and have gained immense knowledge from both my colleagues and the tutors at Morley.
I have acquired new skills and learnt new techniques, learnt to appreciate things I never thought I would and opened my mind to new experiences, but the most important thing has been the people, the support, friendship and so much more. It has given me a reason to want to get up every morning and venture into my new world.
I have learnt to evaluate both my work and the work of others from more than an aesthetic point of view, to be critical but not criticising, and to delve into ‘why’, why has somebody created a particular piece, how can it convey their message.
The course has been instrumental in changing my ideas about art and life in general, about how art can be influential in so many ways that I hadn’t considered.
How did I move from painting pretty things into conceptual ideas?
